La Coqueta: A CS Agency Brew
The Project
Anyone familiar with our team knows we’re big fans of craft beer. We think it goes great with everything; from creative meetings, to unwinding after a long week and even celebrating the launch of a new campaign. So naturally, we thought that a small-batch craft beer would be a great holiday gift for our clients and vendors. But our friends and associates also know that here at CultureSpan we like to go the extra mile on all of our projects. That led us to brew and brand our very own agency cerveza.
The Approach
With so many styles of beer to choose from, the first challenge we faced was what to brew. Luckily, after a few inspirational libations with our brew master Victor, we decided on a Bohemian-style Mexican Cerveza. We chose it for its crisp, clean taste and as something that everyone could enjoy.
Then, the CS Brew Crew met for brew day. Our approach was to craft a traditional ale mimicking lager characteristics. We added El Dorado hops and lime peel for a mild hop aroma and citrus kick. Basically, this all means we were aiming for a smooth mellow flavor and easy drinking. Six hours later the detailed brew process was complete, and the waiting game began as our beer fermented for about three weeks. This gave us time to work on the branding for our yet to be born beer.
Brew Master Victor
First, we needed a name. We were inspired by the playful nature of the style, flirting with both ale and lager looks and flavor profiles. From this we divined our name, La Coqueta, a Spanish colloquialism for flirt. With our theme in place, our creative team went to work styling the distinctive look for our first homebrew. The bottle design featured our eponymous character looking seductively at the drinker amid hop vines. We even paired our beer with a custom pint glass, to complete the set.
The next stop on our booze cruise was bottling day. After a few, or maybe more than a few samples of our newly minted cervecita, we began the process of hand-bottling 192 vessels of liquid gold. Our first nano-brew was officially a success!
All that was left was to finalize our packaging. Our team came together in true CultureSpan maquila fashion, arranging over 100, individually numbered La Coqueta gift baskets.
This project was definitely one for the books, and the feedback we received tasted just as good as our beer.
